Visit the Adirondack Experience for a World War II Victory-Garden themed day of fun and festivities. On September 19, the museum will have Adirondack Harvest Festival activities scheduled from 12:00-4:00.
ADKX Curator and Gardener-led tours of our seasonal Victory Garden.
Learn how people at home during World War II supported the war effort by growing their own foods and canning and preserving what they grew since food was rationed during the war years.
Tours will be at 1:00pm and 3:00pm.
Story time with School Programs Manager Christine Campeau.
Christine will read ADK food-related tall tales and other anecdotes from the region.
Storytime will be at 12:30pm and at 2:00pm.
Throughout the day, young visitors can challenge themselves with a Victory Garden themed scavenger hunt; visitors can enter their homegrown zucchinis and try to win one of three prizes—Biggest Zucchini, Weirdest Looking, and Best Carved. Visitors will also get a chance to guess the weight of the biggest zucchini and whoever wins will get a special prize.
This family-friendly day is in collaboration Cornell Cooperative Extension and the 2021 Adirondack Harvest Festival Farm Week.
