Museum Library Internship
The Adirondack Experience (ADKX) seeks a self-motivated, graduate-level library student for a 12-week guidebook cataloging internship. The intern will work on-site at the ADKX Library in Blue Mountain Lake, NY and will report to the museum’s Director of Archives & Special Collections. Funded by the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership, this opportunity will provide the intern with hands-on experience describing rare guidebooks promoting the Adirondack region. Spanning a century, from the 1870s to the 1970s, these tourism industry publications were issued by rail and steamboat companies, hotel owners, and others to entice visitors north from urban centers into the beauty and relative tranquility of New York’s North Country.
The internship will run for 12 weeks during the fall of 2023. The internship includes an $8000 stipend less applicable State and Federal Taxes in addition to free housing on-site at the museum.
