Un estudio de su obra de este periodo revela una asombrosa abundancia: unas doscientas pinturas sobre lienzo y papel, acompa\u00f1adas de numerosos bocetos y pasteles.<\/p>\n<p>El lago George funcion\u00f3 para O'Keeffe como un potente lugar de est\u00edmulo art\u00edstico. Muchos de los temas bot\u00e1nicos que definir\u00edan su obra tomaron forma en este lugar. Como retiro de la ciudad de Nueva York, no s\u00f3lo le proporcion\u00f3 un contacto permanente con el mundo natural, sino tambi\u00e9n un profundo sentido del lugar, un anclaje esencial para su visi\u00f3n modernista en desarrollo. Pero no era s\u00f3lo un refugio; el lago George funcionaba tambi\u00e9n como nexo social, animado por una circulaci\u00f3n continua de visitantes.<\/p>\n<p>En este entorno polifac\u00e9tico, O'Keeffe abord\u00f3 nuevos temas a la vez que reflexionaba de forma m\u00e1s deliberada sobre su identidad e independencia art\u00edstica, incluida la perspectiva imaginaria de un estudio propio. Anteriormente, fue becaria de investigaci\u00f3n curatorial en el Museo Franz Mayer de Ciudad de M\u00e9xico y asistente curatorial en 80WSE Gallery, una galer\u00eda afiliada a la Universidad de Nueva York donde co-cur\u00f3 y organiz\u00f3 exposiciones con el Instituto de Bellas Artes, el Instituto del Traje y el Departamento de Arte de Steinhardt. Adem\u00e1s, fue becaria visitante en los archivos de la Benem\u00e9rita Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Puebla.
