DESCRIPTION:Pack Forest in Warrensburg\, NY\, is a sprawling 2\,500-acre environmental landmark used by SUNY ESF for forestry research and hands-on ecological education. \nThis program will begin by exploring the complexity and ecology of mature and old-growth forests\, including a visit to the well-known white pine\, the Grandmother Tree. Continue then with an examination of climate-adaptive forest management in action\, including a hemlock demonstration area that highlights how researchers and foresters are working together to sustain resilient forests in a changing climate. \nAllison Brusa is a forester with SUNY ESF in the Adirondacks. Education is central to her work\, and she is passionate about making forest science accessible and experiential. Drawing on a background in ecology and research\, she helps connect ecological processes and active management decisions\, inviting people to see the forest through the lenses of both a naturalist and a forester.
