DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special guided tour with Penny Harr\, Exhibit Assistant at the Adirondack Experience and author of the forthcoming biography Anne LaBastille: A Biography of the Woodswoman. \nAs part of our continued celebration of the 50th anniversary of Woodswoman\, these tours offer a deeper look into the life and work of Anne LaBastille. \nPenny will lead visitors through selections from the museum’s library and archival collections before heading to Life in the Adirondacks\, our main exhibit exploring the Adirondack Park and its people\, to visit Anne LaBastille’s cabin. Drawing on her extensive research and personal insight\, Penny brings to life Anne LaBastille’s work as a writer\, wildlife ecologist\, and conservationist\, as well as the independence and vision that defined her time in the Adirondacks. \nAfterwards\, at 3 PM\, Penny will be at ADKX store where you can purchase a signed copy of her forthcoming biography. \nThere is no cost to attend the tour\, but museum admission is required (free for ADKX members). Capacity is limited and pre-registration is required. \n\n\n  \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:In the Steps of a Woodswoman: A Paddle on Twitchell Lake
DESCRIPTION:Bring your own boat and join us for a paddle across Twitchell Lake to the former site of Anne LaBastille’s historic cabin\, once a place of solitude\, writing\, and deep connection to the Adirondack landscape.\nFifty years after the first publication of LaBastille’s book Woodswoman\, this guided paddle offers participants the opportunity to experience Twitchell Lake as she did\, followed by a walk through the cabin site and discussion of her life\, work\, and environmental legacy. \nThe round-trip paddle covers approximately 3 miles and takes about 2 hours\, including time on shore. Participants should be prepared for variable lake conditions\, including wind\, and for uneven terrain at the cabin site. \nA brown bag lunch will be provided and can be enjoyed lakeside during the visit. \nTwo guided paddle sessions are available: 10:00 AM–12:00 PM and 1:00 PM–3:00 PM.\nClick below to register:
