SUMMARY:Hike Strong by James Appleton
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Program \nThe Complete Guide to Building Mountain Strength\, Endurance\, and Confidence for Hiking and Backpacking is a practical training guide designed to help hikers prepare their bodies specifically for the demands of the trail. \nRather than simply telling hikers to walk more miles or do more cardio\, Hike Strong teaches readers how to combine strength training\, conditioning\, balance\, mobility\, and hiking-specific preparation to become stronger and more resilient in the mountains. \nThe book gives readers a step-by-step framework for developing the strength needed for steep climbs and descents\, the endurance required for long days on trail\, and the confidence to take on bigger hiking and backpacking objectives. It is written for everyone from recreational hikers who want the trail to feel easier to experienced hikers preparing for more ambitious mountain adventures. \nHike Strong was published by Falcon Guides in April 2026. \nAbout the Author:\nJames Appleton is an author\, strength coach\, and New York State Licensed Hiking Guide\, and host of the 46 of 46 Podcast. Based in Lake Placid\, New York\, in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains\, James has built a career around helping hikers and outdoor athletes become stronger\, more capable\, and more confident in the mountains. \nThrough his coaching programs\, content\, and Mountain Strength training methodology\, James works with hikers and backpackers of all ages preparing for everything from local mountain hikes to major backcountry adventures. His work focuses on bridging the gap between traditional strength training and the specific physical demands of hiking\, climbing\, and carrying a pack through rugged terrain. \nJames is the author of Hike Strong: The Complete Guide to Building Mountain Strength\, Endurance\, and Confidence for Hiking and Backpacking\, published by Falcon Guides\, amongst numerous others. He resides in Lake Placid\, NY with his wife and three daughters. \n
