Adirondack Market Basket

This is a great basket for your Adirondack home, camp or for gift giving. Students will learn to weave a base with the pre-cut spokes and then weave the pattern option they desire and lash the rim on. There are two different pattern options to choose from. There will be a selection of dyed reed and seagrass for weaving. Supplies to embellish the maple accent strip will be provided. Linda will demonstrate and teach students all the techniques for weaving your basket. Linda will bring all materials to make the basket and tools students will need during class. Baskets will not be stained during class.
Students may purchase stain for an additional fee. Students should wear comfortable clothing. Finished basket approx. 6” x 10 ½” x 10”H.
Linda Scherz started weaving baskets in the fall of 1987 shortly after moving to Northern NY. Her interest in weaving quickly expanded to designing, teaching, exhibitions and juried shows. Known for her intricate patterns, eye for color and incorporating different materials in her designs keep basket making exciting for her. Linda has won several awards for her baskets. In 2013 and 2015 two of her baskets, Sagandaga and Radiance were in the National Basketry Organization Biennial Juried Exhibition. And in December 2017 one of Linda’s Hiker Adirondack Pack Basket was featured in Martha Stewart Living. Linda teaches her designs throughout the United States and she enjoys sharing her basketry knowledge and experience with her students.
Registration
Spaces are limited in all workshops; advance pre-registration is required.

Payment
Payment is due upon registration. Payment can be made with a credit card. Class space will not be reserved without full payment. Please be aware that classes require a minimum number of students and are subject to cancellation due to insufficient registration.
Cancellation
To cancel your registration, please notify the Adirondack Experience at least 10 days prior to the workshop. With 10 day notice, we will refund your payment minus a $50 fee.
No refunds will be issued for cancellations made with less than 10 days’ notice prior to the start of the class or workshop. If you register for a class or workshop within the 10-day period before a workshop, you will not receive a refund for the
cancellation.
There is a minimum number of participants required for all workshops. Registrants will be notified five days prior to your workshop if it is cancelled, as a result of not meeting the minimum number of registrants. Participants will receive a full refund if workshop is cancelled due to lack of participants. Some workshops have a maximum class size.
Notes
Lunch breaks provided; please enjoy lunch at the Lake View Café or bring your own lunch.
Some workshops will be held outdoors; please be prepared for bugs and weather.
Some workshops are physically demanding.
Some workshops require the use of hand tools and/or power tools which children will not be allowed to use.
