Using acrylic paint and basic brushes participants will create and finish an 8” x 8” stylized silhouette of Adirondack mountains of their choice. Techniques will include mixing colors, basic brush stokes, sizing the image, transfer of lettering, and more. Participants should bring an image of their favorite known Adirondack mountain silhouette (photos, magazine, etc.), painting clothes (apron, one cleaning cloth), and their own basic brushes (1/2” stiff, small detailing, medium round tip) and soft pencils and erasers.
Brushes will be available at the workshop. All other materials will be provided.
Nils R. Caspersson is a retired New York State teacher and Victor, NY resident with Swedish heritage and a background in folk arts and folk music. His artwork is a reflection of bold contemporary Scandinavian colors and traditional design done with acrylics and a self-trained hand. Originally from Corinth, NY, Nils is a grant recipient in folk arts studies from NYSCA and NEA and recently participated in several indigenous folk music events from western New York and on the Erie Canal. His painting subjects come from western New York, Sweden, the Adirondacks, family and abstract impressionism, with much more to come. His work has been displayed throughout western New York , New England and a few hang in Stockholm Sweden. Two of Caspersson’s acrylic paintings, Spelmannen/The Fiddler and Berattare/Storyteller were accepted in Dalakonst 2015, at the Dalarnas Museum, Falun, Sweden. Dalakonst 2015 is an annual fall showing of Scandinavian artists whose work is related to the Dalarna area of Sweden.

Payment is due upon registration. Payment can be made with a credit card. Class space will not be reserved without full payment. Please be aware that classes require a minimum number of students and are subject to cancellation due to insufficient registration.
To cancel your registration, please notify the Adirondack Experience at least 10 days prior to the workshop. With 10 day notice, we will refund your payment minus a $50 fee.
No refunds will be issued for cancellations made with less than 10 days’ notice prior to the start of the class or workshop. If you register for a class or workshop within the 10-day period before a workshop, you will not receive a refund for the
There is a minimum number of participants required for all workshops. Registrants will be notified five days prior to your workshop if it is cancelled, as a result of not meeting the minimum number of registrants. Participants will receive a full refund if workshop is cancelled due to lack of participants. Some workshops have a maximum class size.
Lunch breaks provided; please enjoy lunch at the Lake View Café or bring your own lunch.
Some workshops will be held outdoors; please be prepared for bugs and weather.
Some workshops are physically demanding.
Some workshops require the use of hand tools and/or power tools which children will not be allowed to use.
