Create your own traditional Adirondack pack basket at this one day class. Adirondack guides carried trapping supplies and animal pelts in these baskets; today they can be used as an alternative to a back pack on hiking and camping trips, as a laundry basket, or for storing blankets and towels at home. The base of the adult size packbasket is 9” by 12 ½” and finished dimensions of the basket are 14 ½” at the widest part by 19 ½” tall. All tools and materials are provided by the instructor, and students can choose red, olive green or light tan straps. No prior basket making experience is necessary. However, please understand that the shape of this basket is one of the most difficult to master. An optional solid wood base is available for an additional $30.
Add-on cost: $30 for solid wood base; $30 fee for additional person (two people working on one basket).
Born and raised in Long Lake, Shea Farrell Carr has been making baskets since 1992. She took ownership of Adirondack Basket Case from her mother, Patty Farrell, in 2009.
