Facilities Cleaner
The Adirondack Experience is looking for a motivated individual to help maintain the cleanliness of our exquisite campus and exhibitions. Under the direction of the Cleaning Supervisor, this position is responsible for the cleaning of the Adirondack Experience exhibits, buildings and campus. This includes but not limited to all of the museum’s exhibits, CSSC, restroom areas, office buildings, retail operations, café operations, residences, grounds and parking lots. This is a year round position with a generous benefit package including health, dental, vision and supplemental insurances, paid time off and employer contributions to a 403b retirement account. The ADKX also offers a reciprocal program which allows all employees to have free or discounted admission to regional attractions and museums.
Rate of Pay $16 – $18/hr.

School Programs Educator
Under the supervision of the School Programs Manager, the Educator position encompasses the presentation and support of programs that interpret the museum’s exhibits and collections for school audiences and the general public. Working with a dynamic team in a beautiful setting, the position offers a unique opportunity to teach and learn in an incomparable setting and to develop a foundational level of experience in the field of museum education. This position is for an emerging professional.
This position requires an energetic individual with the natural ability to lead presentations, virtually and in person, for K-12 students and mixed audience groups. An ideal candidate has a passion for history and a natural talent to communicate knowledge in an engaging way. The Educator position works closely with the entire Interpretation team developing and evaluating program materials for presentations and web content. The position requires the ability to travel to presentation sites, adhere to museum and school safety guidelines and protocols, and to comprehend and troubleshoot digital learning procedures. Candidate must be punctual and reliable; excellent time management, problem solving, and social skills are essential. Teaching experience preferred, and/or experience leading youth programs, and/or best practices in museum education. Knowledge of New York State curriculum standards, history and culture; and familiarity with Indigenous communities in the Northeast preferred. The museum especially welcomes applicants from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
Outreach Representative
Under the direction/supervision of the Executive Director the Outreach Representative will focus primarily on meeting the needs of bus groups through excellent customer service; providing information/assistance; and coordinating the visitation of at least 10 bus groups. Participants in the bus visits will be African Americans from Albany, Utica, and Syracuse visiting in connection with a special grant project. The Outreach Representative is also responsible for welcoming the coordinated groups upon arrival, answering questions they may have, and being the point of contact for the day’s activities. Remote work is acceptable during April and early May to start making contact with and coordinating the visitation of the bus groups but onsite work is required during the open season (late May – mid October).

Are you passionate about food, nature and history? Do you put your heart and soul on the plate? If so, the Adirondack Experience has a place for you as the Chef of the Lake View Cafe. Can you prepare food that meets high quality standards, and serve it to the Adirondack Experience’s visitors in a friendly and courteous manner? A Cafe Assistant is a welcoming host that represents the values and goals of the museum at all times. The position requires continual public contact. Weekend work is required.
Assistant d'interprétation
The museum is looking for outgoing and enthusiastic individuals with education and experience related to Museum Studies, Education, History, Interpretation, Environmental Education, Outdoor Recreation, Wilderness Studies, or similar fields. The museum will provide training for regional, cultural and natural history, Certified Interpretive Guide (4 year certification from the National Association for Interpretation), and as needed, Wilderness First Aid (2 year certification from Red Cross). Interpretation staff will lead informal interpretation programs, implement a variety of family and public programs and may work in our exciting, Life in the Adirondacks exhibit, on Minnow Pond Trail or in our indoor and outdoor activity areas and exhibitions.
