We will then continue to the base of Goodnow Mountain to examine climate-adaptive forest management in action, including research areas designed to support the migration of species better suited to future conditions.

This walk is in two parts. All participants will meet at the Newcomb Adirondack Interpretive Center for Part 1, and those wishing to join Part 2 at Goodnow Mountain after will drive to the trailhead.

Please note that Part 2 will require participants hike about 500ft at a steep incline, and walk another 50ft off trail.

Allison Brusa is a forester with SUNY ESF in the Adirondacks. Education is central to her work, and she is passionate about making forest science accessible and experiential. Drawing on a background in ecology and research, she helps connect ecological processes and active management decisions, inviting people to see the forest through the lenses of both a naturalist and a forester.

["0","15
Join ADKX every Thursday in July, August, and September for a walk in the woods of the Central Adirondack Region.
