Born and raised in Akwesasne at the foothills of the Adirondacks, Marjorie Kaniehtonkie Skidders draws deep inspiration from the mountains. From childhood memories of camping, blueberry picking, and winter trapping festivals, her bond with the land shines through in every image.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/div><\/div><\/div>
\n

Anastasia Osolin finds inspiration in the Adirondacks\u2019 beauty and its vibrant community of artists and art lovers. Based in Saranac Lake, she works with found objects gathered from yard sales, antique shops, wooded trails, and curbside discoveries.<\/p>\n

Her piece Hot & Cold<\/em>, created during a 2024 residency at ADKX, features vintage plumbing and electrical fixtures salvaged from local buildings.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n

Katsitsionni Fox creates traditional Haudenosaunee pottery rooted in the natural world. Her work reflects a deep connection to the Adirondacks, which remain the ancestral homelands of her people.<\/p>\n

She continues to spend time in the region\u2014picking medicines, hiking, kayaking\u2014and drawing inspiration from the land.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n

For over 45 years, Marie Cogar has drawn inspiration from the Adirondacks\u2014its mountains, waters, music, and arts. Her fused glass designs, often created on her back deck overlooking Whiteface and the High Peaks, reflect the region\u2019s natural beauty and her own journey of healing through creativity.<\/p>\n

Her themes come to life most vividly in her garden stands, where light and color meet reflection and renewal.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Wilma Cook Zumpano celebrates the beadwork traditions of her heritage\u2014art that is both beautiful and practical, and historically a vital source of income. She often uses natural materials and incorporates cultural designs to share her history with others.<\/p>\n

For Wilma, sharing this work in places like the Adirondacks\u2014her people\u2019s original homelands\u2014is a meaningful way to honor and continue that legacy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n

Paul and Teresa Breuer\u2019s work is rooted in a lifelong connection to the Adirondacks. Growing up surrounded by nature and craftsmanship, they now create lamps that reflect the region\u2019s beauty\u2014featuring shades embedded with real botanicals and bases crafted from driftwood, birch bark, and stone.<\/p>\n

Sheila Ransom <\/h3>

Sheila Ransom is a Mohawk weaver who creates handcrafted black ash and sweetgrass baskets using natural materials found in and around her home in Akwesasne\u2014materials native to the Adirondacks.<\/p>\n

Inspired by the natural world, Sheila continues the tradition of Mohawk basketry, using pounded black ash logs and sweetgrass gathered from wetlands, just as it has been done for generations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n
