{"id":421,"date":"2017-04-04T19:37:00","date_gmt":"2017-04-04T19:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theadkx.org\/?p=421"},"modified":"2021-04-01T04:05:32","modified_gmt":"2021-04-01T04:05:32","slug":"grand-camp-foxlair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theadkx.org\/fr\/great-camp-foxlair\/","title":{"rendered":"Grand camp Foxlair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lorsque l'on pense \u00e0 la d\u00e9coration int\u00e9rieure des grands camps des Adirondacks, la premi\u00e8re image qui vient \u00e0 l'esprit est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement celle de meubles rustiques. Ce n'\u00e9tait pourtant pas le cas pour le grand camp Foxlair, situ\u00e9 pr\u00e8s de North Creek, dans l'\u00c9tat de New York, dont le propri\u00e9taire Richard Alexander Hudnut a fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 sa r\u00e9sidence dans un style ch\u00e2teau fran\u00e7ais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le po\u00eale en fa\u00efence sur la photo est un objet unique de la collection du mus\u00e9e des Adirondacks. Bien qu'il ne soit pas expos\u00e9 actuellement, il peut \u00eatre vu lorsque le mus\u00e9e propose des visites guid\u00e9es de la collection entrepos\u00e9e. Ce po\u00eale, qui n'est qu'une des importations fran\u00e7aises meublant le camp, est un objet merveilleux et int\u00e9ressant qui souligne la diff\u00e9rence de d\u00e9cor de Foxlair. Le po\u00eale mesure 1,80 m de haut et est constitu\u00e9 d'environ 220 blocs de carreaux peints \u00e0 la main. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 import\u00e9 de France en 1905.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le po\u00eale Foxlair n'illustre pas seulement un contraste int\u00e9ressant au sein de la collection du mus\u00e9e, il constitue \u00e9galement un lien avec un camp qui n'existe plus. Cette pi\u00e8ce a \u00e9t\u00e9 ajout\u00e9e \u00e0 Foxlair en 1905 ; le camp a \u00e9t\u00e9 une r\u00e9sidence familiale jusqu'en 1938. Foxlair a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 confi\u00e9 \u00e0 la Police Athletic League de New York comme camp d'\u00e9t\u00e9 pour gar\u00e7ons. Pendant cette p\u00e9riode, le po\u00eale \u00e9tait cach\u00e9 derri\u00e8re un faux mur pour le prot\u00e9ger. L'\u00c9tat de New York a rachet\u00e9 le camp en 1959, puis, en raison de changements imminents dans la politique d'am\u00e9nagement du territoire de l'\u00c9tat, la famille a jug\u00e9 imp\u00e9ratif de sauver le po\u00eale au milieu des ann\u00e9es 1960, en le d\u00e9montant pi\u00e8ce par pi\u00e8ce et en le sortant de la r\u00e9sidence. Les carreaux du po\u00eale d\u00e9mont\u00e9 ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9plac\u00e9s vers une r\u00e9sidence voisine appartenant \u00e0 des descendants de la famille Hudnut. Les carreaux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 soigneusement envelopp\u00e9s dans de l'isolant et emball\u00e9s dans des caisses afin de s'assurer qu'ils ne seraient pas endommag\u00e9s pendant le stockage dans le sous-sol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Puis, dans les ann\u00e9es 1970, le Camp Foxlair a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9duit en cendres par le DEC, conform\u00e9ment au plan directeur d'utilisation et de d\u00e9veloppement des terres de l'Adirondack Park Agency (APA), qui exige que toutes les terres de l'\u00c9tat situ\u00e9es dans la r\u00e9serve foresti\u00e8re soient maintenues dans un \u00e9tat naturel. Par cons\u00e9quent, on estime que les b\u00e2timents situ\u00e9s sur les terres de l'\u00c9tat doivent \u00eatre ras\u00e9s pour que la zone retrouve son \u00e9tat \"sauvage\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette politique a pos\u00e9 un certain nombre de questions, surtout en ce qui concerne les b\u00e2timents qui ont une grande importance historique et culturelle. Depuis les ann\u00e9es 1970, date de l'incendie de Foxlair, jusqu'aux ann\u00e9es 1990, la fa\u00e7on d'aborder ces questions a fait l'objet d'un d\u00e9bat important. S'il \u00e9tait trop tard pour contester la question de Foxlair, d'autres grands camps comme celui de Santanoni \u00e0 Newcomb, dans l'\u00c9tat de New York, qui a connu un sort similaire, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 une source de grands conflits. Comment la vision de la nature sauvage des Adirondacks comme un sanctuaire, vierge de toute influence humaine, pouvait-elle coexister avec la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 que cette r\u00e9gion a \u00e9galement une riche histoire de colonisation et de d\u00e9veloppement humain ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heureusement, gr\u00e2ce aux efforts de groupes tels que l'Adirondack Architectural Heritage, ou AARCH, un compromis a \u00e9t\u00e9 trouv\u00e9 sur Santanoni et l'APA a reclass\u00e9 Santanoni comme zone historique au sein de la r\u00e9serve foresti\u00e8re. Cette reclassification inclut la zone situ\u00e9e imm\u00e9diatement autour de la maison principale et du complexe de la ferme exp\u00e9rimentale. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette d\u00e9cision, AARCH, la ville de Newcomb et le DEC peuvent agir en tant que partenaires pour restaurer les b\u00e2timents de Santanoni et g\u00e9rer un programme d'interpr\u00e9tation. Les blocs de tuiles du po\u00eale ont \u00e9t\u00e9 soigneusement emball\u00e9s et transport\u00e9s au mus\u00e9e pour \u00eatre nettoy\u00e9s et conserv\u00e9s. Le projet s'apparentait \u00e0 un grand puzzle, et il fallait cr\u00e9er une cl\u00e9 \u00e0 partir de photographies historiques pour reconstituer les pi\u00e8ces. Le po\u00eale a \u00e9t\u00e9 reconstruit au cours des mois d'hiver 2004-2005.
