Le photographe Mathias T. Oppersdorff avait le don de capturer la personnalit\u00e9 de ses sujets. Dans le livre Visages de l'Adirondack<\/em>Command\u00e9s par l'Adirondack Museum en 1986, les portraits sensibles d'Oppersdorff d\u00e9montrent que le caract\u00e8re d'un lieu se refl\u00e8te dans les visages de sa communaut\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans l'introduction du livre, il \u00e9crit : \"D\u00e8s le d\u00e9but, j'ai voulu placer mes sujets dans leur propre environnement. De cette fa\u00e7on, je pouvais montrer un visage et laisser l'environnement ajouter \u00e0 notre compr\u00e9hension de la fa\u00e7on dont chaque personne vivait et travaillait. J'ai rencontr\u00e9 tous mes sujets sur leur propre terrain\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oppersdorff a re\u00e7u une reconnaissance internationale pour son travail tout au long de sa carri\u00e8re. Fils d'un comte autrichien, il a beaucoup voyag\u00e9 en prenant des photos pour le compte de la Commission europ\u00e9enne. Gourmet Magazine, GEO Magazine, Histoire naturelle, Diversion, Nikon World, Photographie populaire<\/em>et Conde Nast Traveler<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mathias T. Oppersdorff est d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 le 26 janvier 2010, pr\u00e8s de sa maison \u00e0 Rhode Island, \u00e0 l'\u00e2ge de soixante-quatorze ans. Son h\u00e9ritage se perp\u00e9tue \u00e0 travers le travail qu'il a contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 l'enregistrement historique de notre r\u00e9gion, \u00e0 la fois dans les beaux portraits parlants qu'il a captur\u00e9s et dans les entretiens d'histoire orale qu'il a men\u00e9s avec ses sujets, qui sont conserv\u00e9s dans la biblioth\u00e8que du mus\u00e9e.
