Wool and Water est un projet collaboratif qui associe l'art de la fibre \u00e0 des informations scientifiques pour cr\u00e9er des repr\u00e9sentations visuelles de l'\u00e9volution de la qualit\u00e9 de l'eau dans les Adirondacks et le bassin du lac Champlain. Cr\u00e9\u00e9 \u00e0 l'origine en association avec le 50e anniversaire du Clean Water Act en 2022, l'objectif de ce projet et de l'exposition associ\u00e9e est de mettre en valeur l'h\u00e9ritage de la protection de l'eau propre dans les Adirondacks et le bassin du lac Champlain. Le tricot, le crochet, le tissage et d'autres arts de la fibre sont utilis\u00e9s pour illustrer les concepts et les tendances li\u00e9s \u00e0 nos cours d'eau, et pour inspirer leur protection. Michale parlera du projet, soulignera les questions cl\u00e9s, donnera des exemples de pi\u00e8ces qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9es pour les illustrer, d\u00e9crira comment le projet a donn\u00e9 lieu \u00e0 d'autres occasions d'amener l'art et la science dans les \u00e9coles et les salles de classe, et expliquera comment s'impliquer dans le projet.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 propos de l'orateur :<\/strong><\/p>\n

Michale Glennon est \u00e9cologiste de la faune, artiste de la fibre et directeur de Wool and Water, un projet de l'Adirondack Watershed Institute (AWI) au Paul Smith's College. En tant que chercheur principal \u00e0 l'AWI, Michale \u00e9tudie les menaces qui p\u00e8sent sur l'int\u00e9grit\u00e9 \u00e9cologique et la sant\u00e9 des bassins versants. Elle contribue \u00e0 la direction du programme de recherche scientifique de l'AWI, au soutien d'opportunit\u00e9s de recherche de haute qualit\u00e9 pour les \u00e9tudiants et \u00e0 la d\u00e9fense de la science dans le cadre de la gestion et de l'intendance des ressources naturelles du parc des Adirondacks. Michale est \u00e9galement membre du conseil d'administration de l'Adirondack Council et de Traditional Arts in Upstate New York. Elle a grandi \u00e0 Lake Placid, dans l'\u00c9tat de New York, et vit \u00e0 Ray Brook avec son mari, Scott, et leurs deux enfants.<\/p>\n
