September 26: Coney Mountain<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Coney Mountain rises between the villages of Tupper Lake and Long Lake on the border between Franklin and Hamilton Counties. The trail is a 1.1 walk to the summit and passes through beautiful woods, including a stand of old-growth sugar maples. The 360 degree view from the open, rocky summit is stunning. We will scan the skies for migrating hawks, falcons, eagles, monarch butterflies, and dragonflies. The western lake district of the Adirondacks spreads grandly in one direction, while to the East, weather permitting, we’ll gaze toward the High Peaks. Elevation gain is a little more than 523 feet. Altitude at the summit is 2267 feet.<\/p>\n

Ed Kanze est naturaliste, auteur et guide des Adirondacks. Il a plus de quarante ans d'exp\u00e9rience dans l'organisation de promenades dans des lieux sauvages. Ancien National Park Ranger, il a travaill\u00e9 \u00e0 Acadia National Park et Gulf Islands National Seashore, a \u00e9t\u00e9 conservateur du Trailside Nature Museum \u00e0 Cross River, New York, a enseign\u00e9 l'\u00e9cologie sur le terrain pour la National Audubon Society et a \u00e9t\u00e9 naturaliste principal \u00e0 la Teatown Lake Reservation \u00e0 Ossining, New York.
