Depuis qu'il a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 randonner dans les montagnes des Adirondacks, John Sasso a \u00e9t\u00e9 intrigu\u00e9 par les objets sur lesquels il tombait, tels que des boulons en fer provenant d'anciens relev\u00e9s de terrain, des vestiges de camps de b\u00fbcherons disparus depuis longtemps, des chemins forestiers myst\u00e9rieux et des fondations en pierre. Les questions que ces d\u00e9couvertes suscitaient : \u2018Qu'y avait-il ici ?\u2019 \u2018\u00c0 quoi servaient-ils ?\u2019 et \u2018D'o\u00f9 vient ce nom ?\u2019 l'ont amen\u00e9 \u00e0 faire des recherches et \u00e0 \u00e9crire sur les r\u00e9ponses souvent surprenantes et toujours divertissantes qu'il a trouv\u00e9es au fil des ans. Premier volume d'une s\u00e9rie pr\u00e9vue, ce livre pr\u00e9sente les histoires fascinantes qui se cachent derri\u00e8re les montagnes des Adirondacks du Nord et, nous l'esp\u00e9rons, permettra d'appr\u00e9cier davantage cette r\u00e9gion unique et remarquable.<\/span><\/p>\n

John Sasso<\/strong> John Sasso est un randonneur passionn\u00e9, un \"bushwhacker\" et un historien ind\u00e9pendant des Adirondacks originaire de Colonie, dans l'\u00c9tat de New York. La plupart de ses recherches portent sur l'histoire li\u00e9e aux sommets des Adirondacks et \u00e0 d'autres caract\u00e9ristiques naturelles, ainsi que sur les premiers relev\u00e9s fonciers de la r\u00e9gion. En dehors de son travail quotidien et de ses recherches historiques, John participe \u00e0 la construction et \u00e0 l'entretien de sentiers et d'appentis avec les Adirondack Forty-Sixers et Lean-To Rescue. Il participe \u00e9galement \u00e0 l'entretien des tours d'incendie avec la section de l'\u00c9tat de New York de la Forest Fire Lookout Association, et est gardien de la tour d'incendie du Mont Adams. Son travail a \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9 dans l'Adirondack Almanack, l'Adirondack PEEKS Magazine et l'Adirondack Journal of Environmental Studies. Son c\u00e9l\u00e8bre groupe Facebook, History and Legends of the Adirondacks, a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 2015 pour sensibiliser le public \u00e0 l'histoire des Adirondacks par le biais des m\u00e9dias sociaux.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n
