Spend the afternoon with the story of Adirondack poet Jeanne Robert Foster in a 45-minute one-woman show illuminating her life and work.<\/h2>\n

A model for Charles Dana Gibson\u2019s celebrated \u201cGibson Girls,\u201d Foster\u2019s story reaches far beyond the photographs that defined a generation\u2019s ideal of beauty\u2013from humble beginnings in the Adirondacks to the literary salons of Paris and beyond.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This performance is included with museum admission<\/em> and will take place at the Marion River Carry Pavilion. Seating for 40 guests will be available on a first\u2011come, first\u2011served basis, with standing room available as well. Punch will be served. Bring your finest parasol and enjoy an afternoon discovering the story of this remarkable Adirondack woman.<\/p>\n

Eileen Mack<\/h3>\n

Eileen Egan Mack is a master storyteller who specializes in stories that reflect the beauty and wonder of the natural world. A resident of Latham, NY, she grew up in Saratoga County and pursued a career in education in the North Country. Her one-woman show \u201cVoice of the Mountains\u201d reflects a reverence for nature and her admiration of the Adirondack born writer\/poet\/art agent, Jeanne Robert Foster. The program originated out of a love for reading aloud works from the book Adirondack Portraits: A Piece of Time<\/em>. Eileen felt compelled to share Jeanne\u2019s story and the voices of the people the Adirondack native knew growing up. Out of this arose a program of readings, stories and songs.<\/p>\n

As a vocalist, Eileen loves singing jazz standards, art songs, Broadway, pop and folk music, and is a cantor at area churches. She performs regularly as a storyteller and as a vocalist in the Capital Region. A student of Michael Clement, she regularly shares programs with the pianist and has created a special musical tribute to the Yaddo\u2019s Katrina Trask, of Saratoga. She has performed her program, \u201cElizabeth Schuyler\u00a0Hamilton: Albany Girl\/American Girl\u201d regionally and with the Musicians of Ma\u2019alwyck. She is happy to bring stories of Jeanne R. Foster and her \u201cneighbors of yesterday\u201d to audiences via this journey back in time to 19th century life in the Great North Woods.<\/p>\n
