ADKX Covid Courtesy Code

Your health and safety are our top priorities. Please be assured that the ADKX is following guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and New York State for increased health and safety procedures. As this situation continues to evolve, so will our policies and procedures.

A review of our visitor guidelines and regulations below can help orient you before you arrive and ensure you get the most out of your ADKX experience. By visiting the Museum, you agree to abide by these policies. Please make sure to plan ahead for your visit.

The health and safety of all is our priority.

To ensure that we are providing a safe environment for all, the Museum has the following protocols in place:

  • Masks are required for all visitors (including vaccinated visitors) indoors and at identified outdoor locations where there is interaction with other visitor groups and staff.
  • For everyone’s safety please practice social distancing — keep 6 ft. between you and others who are not in your party while in the exhibits and on the campus and trails. That’s a little longer than a canoe paddle!
  • Follow hand hygiene guidelines and use our hand sanitizer stations during your visit.
  • If you feel ill, exhibit symptoms, or have had contact with a COVID-19 patient in the last 14 days, please stay home and seek care. In order to keep our staff and patrons safe, if you start to feel ill during your visit, please alert staff and leave without delay.

So that we can safely remain open, we require that all visitors follow the safety guidelines outlined above. The ADKX reserves the right to ask visitors who do not follow these guidelines to leave the premises.

  1. By purchasing a ticket to the Adirondack Experience (ADKX), you agree to follow the ADKX COVID Courtesy Code. Anyone who chooses not to comply with these museum and state-mandated guidelines will be asked to leave the museum campus.
  2. Masks are required for all visitors (including vaccinated visitors) indoors and at identified outdoor locations where there is interaction with other visitor groups and staff.
  3. Visitors are required to follow any directional paths labeled throughout the museum, including one-way entrance and exit paths. ADKX has designated one-way pathways in some exhibitions to help eliminate close contact between visitors.

  2. There will be hand sanitizer available throughout the campus.
  3. ADKX Staff will gently remind you to keep 6 ft. between your party and other visitors. That’s roughly the length of a canoe paddle!
  4. ADKX has heightened cleaning protocols across campus. ADKX staff will frequently clean and disinfect high traffic areas and restrooms.
  5. Air filtration systems have been upgraded with new filters to provide high indoor air quality.
  6. Some exhibit entrances are designated as one-way zones to help eliminate close contact between visitors.
  1. Advance, timed tickets can be purchased hereDue to limited capacity, we cannot guarantee admission without a ticket reservation.

Advance tickets are not required, but they are encouraged. For public health and safety, and to comply with federal and state guidelines, the museum is currently limiting admission capacity. To monitor capacity and assure entry to all who want to visit, the museum is making tickets available by advance reservation to visitors and members.

If you make advance reservations for your party, you will also need to reserve a free ticket for your children under the age of 5, so they can be included in your party’s total reservation count to help monitor visitor capacity.

We ask all visitors to reserve their admission tickets before arriving. For visitors unable to pre-purchase online, please speak to our friendly admissions staff in the Visitors Center.

To accommodate reduced capacity requirements, advanced reservations are required for our boat rentals at the new ADKX Boathouse on Minnow Pond. There is no additional charge for our boat experience! Boat availability may change without notice.

We understand that plans change. We appreciate your cooperation and courtesy as we try to meet visitor demand during this reduced-capacity period. There are no refunds or rainchecks for reservations. Please talk to our admissions team about applying the value of your ticket purchase toward a membership to cover all future visits.
