The guideboat is a uniquely-Adirondack watercraft, and this is your chance to embark on a traditional guideboat tour led by Matt Burnett, a licensed Adirondack guide and artist based in Saranac Lake. Starting on Eagle Lake and ending on Blue Mountain Lake, you will be rowed across portions of the Eckford Chain while learning about the historical roots of the guideboat and how it is perfectly suited to Adirondack waters. Different material innovations have impacted the design and performance of the Adirondack guideboat through the years. This tour will include examples of both traditional boats and ones made with modern materials. Interested participants will have the chance to row for a portion of the trip for a truly hands-on experience. A picnic lunch will be provided at a beautiful camp on the shores of Blue Mountain Lake. Participants will also be able to purchase a special print from Matt Burnett to commemorate this unforgettable experience.
