Join us for a day filled with indoor and outdoor learning at this year’s Homeschool Day on Wednesday September 25 from 10:00am-4:30pm, featuring special guest Gretchen Koehler. Guests can participate in programming, check out the exhibits, play lawn games, and more! All homeschooling families/homeschool groups with at least one school aged (5-17) child present are eligible for free admission to the ADKX on this day.
Special programming for the day includes:
Gretchen Koehler: Try your hands (and feet!) at fiddle & dance traditions
Gretchen Koehler is a fiddler with an atlas of musical styles at her fingertips. Her left hand has a fierce Irish brogue, her bow arm provides a distinct American Old Time drive while her feet hammer out accompaniment on the floorboards in typical Quebecois style. Join Gretchen in the ADKX Auditorium to learn contra and step dancing, how to play the spoons, and foot percussion!

Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District: Come learn about invertebrates and play a super cool game with Katie WhitKovits!

SUNY ESF’s Adirondack Interpretive Center: Tragedy of the Trout
Head on over to the Marion River Carry Pavilion to meet Steph Hample and learn about how logging in the 1800s impacted Adirondack trout populations, and take a peek at our very own ADKX trout in the center campus pond!
