Albany Public Library and The Adirondack Experience welcome New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Donnelly whose novel A Northern Light retells the true story of the 1906 murder of Grace Brown. Jennifer will talk about the inspiration and research behind her award-winning novel, and the challenges of combining fact and fiction. Donnelly’s story is drawn from the letters Brown wrote to her murderous beau Chester Gillette, and from extensive research she conducted in the area of Big Moose Lake and in The Adirondack Experience’s own archives. A Northern Light was awarded a Carnegie medal, the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, and a Michael L. Printz Honor and was named one of TIME magazine’s 100 Best Young Adult Books. About The Speaker:

Jennifer Donnelly is a New York Times bestselling author who writes for children, teens, and adults. Her work has garnered many awards, among them a Carnegie Medal, the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, a Michael L. Printz Honor, a Green Earth Book Award, and an Indies Choice Best Young Adult Book award, and has been named to many notable book lists. Her trilogy of novels – The Tea Rose, The Winter Rose, and The Wild Rose – has been optioned for a mini-series and her novels Stepsister and Poisoned have been optioned for feature films.
