Pack Forest with Allison Brusa
Pack Forest in Warrensburg, NY, is a sprawling 2,500-acre environmental landmark used by SUNY ESF for forestry research and hands-on ecological education.
This program will begin by exploring the complexity and ecology of mature and old-growth forests, including a visit to the well-known white pine, the Grandmother Tree. Continue then with an examination of climate-adaptive forest management in action, including a hemlock demonstration area that highlights how researchers and foresters are working together to sustain resilient forests in a changing climate.
Allison Brusa is a forester with SUNY ESF in the Adirondacks. Education is central to her work, and she is passionate about making forest science accessible and experiential. Drawing on a background in ecology and research, she helps connect ecological processes and active management decisions, inviting people to see the forest through the lenses of both a naturalist and a forester.
