Planned Giving

Planned gifts are one of the most significant contributions that you can make to secure the future of the Adirondack Experience, its collections and programs. You can receive substantial tax and estate benefits from planned gifts, particularly if funded through gifts of appreciated stock or real estate. Gifts may take the form of bequests, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, gifts of retirement plan assets and life insurance policies, and tangible personal or real property.

Adirondack Experience’s Office of Institutional Advancement will be happy to discuss various planned giving opportunities with you. For additional information, please contact the Office of Institutional Advancement at 518.352.7311 ext. 125.

Make a Gift Through Your IRA

If you are age 70½ or older, you can make a tax-wise gift directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to Adirondack Experience. These gifts, known as Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), are a wonderful way to support the museum while reducing your taxable income.

Benefits of Giving Through an IRA
  • Reduce Taxable Income – A QCD is not counted as taxable income, which may lower your overall tax bill.
  • Meet Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) – If you are 73 or older, gifts made through a QCD count toward your annual required minimum distribution.
  • Simple and Direct – Funds are transferred directly from your IRA to Adirondack Experience—no need to itemize deductions.
  • Impact Today – Your gift supports ADKX’s work immediately, helping to preserve and share the history and culture of the Adirondacks.
How to Make an IRA Gift to ADKX
  1. Contact your IRA administrator to request a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly to Adirondack Experience.
  2. Provide the following details:
    • Legal Name: Adirondack Historical Association (dba Adirondack Experience)
    • EIN: 15-0532200
    • Address: 9097 State Route 30, Blue Mountain Lake, NY 12812
  3. Let us know about your gift so we can thank you and ensure your gift is directed according to your wishes.
Important Notes
  • Gifts must be transferred directly from your IRA to Adirondack Experience to qualify as a QCD.
  • You may contribute up to $100,000 per year through QCDs (married couples can each give up to $100,000 from their own IRAs).
