In a Blaze of fire: A true story of the horrific event that devasted the Adirondack Mountain town called Long Lake West and the survivors who witnessed it. Step into the late 1800s, when a lone rider from Brandreth Lake enters the emerging settlement of Long Lake West—a remote Adirondack outpost with few roads, looming dangers, and a new railroad station that promises to transform the isolated wilderness, bringing opportunity, newcomers, and dramatic change to the lives of everyone who calls it home. Through the lives of the real people who dared to build a community in the wilderness, Huntley reveals bold personalities, powerful relationships, and villagers bound together by fierce weather, their children, and an unbreakable will to survive.
