Journey back to the summer of 1926 as Dr. Howard Kirschenbaum brings to life the 100th anniversary of President Calvin Coolidge’s Summer White House at White Pine Camp.

Using rare historic photographs and amusing anecdotes, Dr. Kirschenbaum illuminates the camp’s distinctive architecture, its colorful owners, and the President’s ten-week Adirondack retreat. Settle in for a summer evening remembering one of the region’s most charming Great Camps. It may have been named for the majestic pines, but as they said in the ‘20s, this place was simply the berries.

Dr. Howard Kirschenbaum has spent decades at the forefront of preserving the Adirondacks’ architectural treasures. A founder and longtime leader of Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH), he has played a central role in saving and stewarding Great Camps such as Sagamore, Uncas, Santanoni, and White Pine. His deep expertise in historic preservation is matched by his authorship of widely respected books on Sagamore, Santanoni, and White Pine Camp. Today he remains one of the most knowledgeable and passionate advocates for the region’s architectural heritage.
