Boats and Boating illustrates the importance of boats for transportation and for leisure in the Adirondacks. More than fifty boats are on exhibit each year. Featuring displays of guideboats — an indigenous craft — and wooden canoes built by John Henry Rushton, including the Sairy Gamp, a ten and one-half pound canoe on loan from the Smithsonian Institution. Also on view is the 1905 Gold Cup race boat Skeeter.
